“Years of Culture” is an international cultural exchange between countries and communities from Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Bhutan, Egypt, India, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Maldives, Morocco, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. This year it will be the 10th anniversary of the initiative. The 2022 Year of Culture will include programmes from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA).

“Years of Culture” is an initiative which was made possible through close collaboration between many different organisations across Qatar under the guidance of Qatar Museums (QM) and its Chairperson Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

It all started in 2012 with the events dedicated to the 40th year of diplomatic relations between Qatar and Japan. Now, a partnership with an entire region, MENASA, will be for the first time. The international cultural exchange deepens understanding between nations and their people, encourages dialogue and brings people closer together.

“Year of Culture 2022” is a year of fantastic cultural, educational, and sporting activities in celebration of the significant milestone – the 10th anniversary of this initiative. The events are designed to explore the unique cultures of participating nations and their shared interests. Qatar-MENASA Year of Culture 2022 offers something to everybody: the events range from film festivals, art exhibitions and fashion shows to food festivals and traditional arts shows. October to December is the fourth decade of this programme in Doha.

Qatar-MENASA has been developed in collaboration with leading organisations in Qatar.

You can find more information about the events of the Fourth Decade on the official website of “Years of Culture”.
