Apart from taking a tour on a kayak around the Louvre Abu Dhabi, now you have the opportunity to learn about the museum’s impressive architecture via an electric catamaran cruise.
Operated by the Costa Azzurra company, catamaran tours take place every day of the week from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. A tour can last 30 minutes or an hour. The first option costs AED 350, and the second one costs AED 600, with up to two people per catamaran in both cases.
The minimum age of a participant is 18 years old. Those who are younger must be accompanied by an adult. Please note that the participants should arrive 15 minutes earlier to get ready.
Situated on Saadiyat Island and surrounded by water, the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum covers 24,000 sqm. It was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, a winner of the Pritzker Prize (an analogue of the Nobel Prize in architecture). In this project, the architect has combined oriental traditions and modern design.
The museum comprises more than 50 snow-white pavilions and covered passages separated by many water channels and boasts a huge openwork dome, which is a true architectural marvel. The dome is made of durable materials (steel, iron, and aluminium) and seems to be woven from white lace. It creates a shadow that resembles “the shadow of date palms in an oasis”, and visitors feel as if the museum is under the open sky on the high seas.

Among the other exciting activities offered by the museum are a drawing class and the Art History Walks Series. You can also watch Mindful Art Moments (a series of videos of three artworks from the museum collection) and a webinar studying the role of art engagement in museums and galleries to improve one’s health and well-being.
