From Tuesday to Sunday, visitors have an amazing opportunity to take a trip on kayaks around the beautiful museum, Louvre Abu Dhabi, and learn all about Louvre Abu Dhabi’s architecture from a unique perspective. No prior experience is necessary.
There are several times available. You can kayak in the morning at 5:30 am or 7:30 am or in the afternoon at 5:00 pm or 6:30 pm. Tours last 60 minutes. People from the age of 6 are invited.
The building of the Louvre Abu Dhabi is surrounded by water. It has many water channels and a huge openwork dome. This allows visitors to feel that the museum is, as it were, under the open sky on the high seas. The Louvre Abu Dhabi was designed by Jean Nouvel. The project combines oriental traditions and modern design. More than 50 snow-white pavilions and covered passages, separated by paths from the water, look inspiring. The museum covers an area of 24,000 sq.m.
The heavy (7 tons) dome of the Louvre (diameter – 180 meters) is of particular interest. It seems to be woven from white lace although it is made of very durable materials (steel, iron and aluminum). When the sun’s rays fall from above, a shadow is created, similar to the patterns created by the leaves of palm trees in an oasis. For some, this effect resembles a solar rain or a star glow.
