If you hardly feel like doing anything outside in the scorching sun (exploring the mysterious Al Madam Village, for example, or the ruins of the ancient settlement in Jumeirah), we are here to help. Look through our top 10 exhibitions in July, pick one or two, and spend your free time in heavenly cool places while enjoying some great art.

1. Pipilotti Rist: Your Brain to Me, My Brain to You

Your Brain to Me, My Brain to You is a fascinating immersive LED installation which is being on display at the National Museum of Qatar until 15 July 2023. Created by Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist who is famous for her experimental video art and installations, the artwork on view represents humanity’s collective unconscious and the power of the mind.

2. Kaleidoscope by Timur Akhmedov

Andakulova Gallery in Dubai presents Kaleidoscope, Timur Akhmedov’s solo exhibition. A prominent Uzbek artist, he has an ability to convey experiences and various shades of feelings through the beauty of colour. One has an opportunity to look at his dazzling paintings until 15 September 2023.

3. Kemal Yazici at Bedia Gallery

Bedia Gallery located in Al Quoz, Dubai, invites everyone to admire the abstract paintings of Kemal Yazici, a contemporary artist who founded this art gallery and studio. In his art, Yazici reflects different experiences in his life, as he lived in several countries and worked in various fields. Among the sources of the artist’s inspiration are travelling, nature, the sea, city skylines, and the art of Gerhard Richter.

4. Latest cc-tapis Carpet Designs

Iwan Maktabi, a carpet house in Dubai’s Alserkal Avenue, is showcasing the latest carpet designs by Patricia Urquiola, a famous Spanish architect and industrial designer. Her Pipeline collection of digital tubular artwork have been turned into artisan-made rugs and wall hangings. One can also look at the designs by Bethan Laura Wood, German Ermicks, and others. The show will be on view until 31 July 2023.

5. In My Garden by Olivia Babel

Foundry in Dubai is currently housing In My Garden, a solo show by French artist Olivia Babel. On display are her textile sculptures: abstract gardens full of rich natural colours which are presented on walls or in frames. In these works, Babel expresses her vision of greenery with poetry and delicacy. One has an opportunity to admire her artworks until 31 August 2023.

6. Fragile, Handle with Care by Giampiero Romanò

Zawyeh Gallery in Dubai in partnership with Sara Simonit Contemporary is staging Italian artist Giampiero Romanò’s solo show titled Fragile, Handle with Care. Skilled in restoration and preservation, he creates his unique artworks using antique frames and mirrors. For the artist, the antique frames represent history, while the mirrors represent people with their multiple images and variable lives. The closing day of the exhibition is 17 September 2023.

7. Roots and Reflections: A Journey through Time and Nature

Firetti Contemporary presents Roots and Reflections: A Journey through Time and Nature, a group show featuring four artists: Robert Santore, Jason Middlebrook, Sylvestre Gauvrit, and Halim Flowers. It is focused on three themes: memory and identity, nature and environment, and innovation and experimentation. The exhibition will end on 5 July 2023.

8. Zwara: Focus on Forever Valentino Exhibition

The show displays the collections of the thirteen designers enrolled in the 3d edition of the Zwara Programme, which is inspired by the Forever Valentino exhibition. In their works, the participants have explored the conversations occurring between fashion and other design disciplines. The show is being held at M7, a creative hub in Doha, Qatar, and will be open to the public until 10 September 2023.

9. Strange Fruit by Dorsa Asadi

Until 29 July 2023, Green Art Gallery is hosting Strange Fruit, Iranian artist Dorsa Asadi’s solo show. Through the displayed series of her ceramic works, she has conveyed her experience of living through the recent unrest in Iran and its long aftermath. Deeply inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, the series is divided into three different chapters: Inferno, Purgatory, and Paradiso.

10. Summer Allegory at XVA Gallery

Being held at XVA Gallery until 7 September 2023, Summer Allegory is a group exhibition paying tribute to this season when positive feelings come to the surface and allow for a better appreciation of everything we do. The show’s aim is to encompass this summer’s glamour through a selection of artists, forms, and subjects. The participants are Richard Ketley, Solimar Miller, Elisabeth Dorazio, and Colleen Quigley.
