Dubai Festival City Mall, part of Al-Futtaim Malls and DC Aviation Al-Futtaim, in partnership with Dubai Culture has opened a gallery featuring the winners of the Festival of Arts competition. The 34 artworks are displayed at the gallery at Dubai Festival City Mall until May 28th, 2022.
The contest under the theme “Flight into Innovation” invited emerging artists residing in the UAE aged under 30 to express their creativity and transform innovative ideas into practical reality through wall-based art.
Over 800 artworks were received but only 34 have been selected and are displayed in a premium location at the mall. The artists are also offered an exclusive mentorship with the judges and a business startup programme supported by Al-Futtaim.
First-place contestant Sara Tahir from Pakistan, other emerging artists who made it to the top four included Kathleen Espinola Sum from Philippines, Abda Fayyaz from Pakistan and Ali Bahmani from Iran. Sara Tahir’s winning artwork will be featured on the Dassault Falcon 2000 LXS aircraft, owned, and operated by DC Aviation Group and expected to transport VVIP passengers around the world for 6 months.
