The sculpture “Alphabet of Life” by artist and entrepreneur Azza Al Qubaisi can now be admired under the gates of the Dubai International Financial Center until June as a part of the DIFC Sculpture Park.  The artpiece that was inspired by a palm tree, an endearing symbol of the UAE, was made in 2018 from mild steel with the size  300 x 300 x 600 cm.

Azza Al Qubaisi’s “Alphabet of Life” presents the visitors with an opporunity to walk through a metal palm oasis representing social solidarity, growth and prosperity.

Born in Abu Dhabi in 1978, Azza Al Qubaisi is a jewellery artist, product designer and sculptor, most often referred to as the UAE’s first Emirati jewellery artist. She has a BA in Jewellery Design and Allied Crafts from London Guildhall University and an MA in Cultural and Creative Industries from the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research & Training (CERT) based at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT). She was a winner at the British Council’s Young Creative Entrepreneur Awards, as well as the Emirates Woman of the Year Awards. The artist is a recipient of the Cultural Foundation Art Residency 2021.

She has participated in solo and group exhibitions in the UAE and worldwide, highlights of which include Portrait of a Nation (Berlin, 2017); UAE National Day Exhibition at EXPO Milano (Milan, 2015); Three Generations, Sotheby’s (London, 2013); Sculpture to Wear at Tashkeel (Dubai, 2012); A 1001 Steps Festival (Helsinki, 2004).

The DIFC Sculpture Park showcases the artworks of famous international artists from various backgrounds and nationalities. They unite under the theme of harmony of diverse voices to communicate and express themselves through art. The sculptures are featured from well-established galleries such as Leila Heller Gallery, Firetti Gallery and AWC Gallery, as well from independent artists.
