The main mission of World Art Dubai is to bring affordable art to the Middle East market. This year, the 9th edition of the art fair will take place from March 9 till March 12 in Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). It will bring together more than 300 famous galleries and artists from 50+ countries, and more than 4, 000 artworks will be available to purchase. According to Asma Al Sharif, Assistant Vice President at Exhibitions (DWTC), World Art Dubai 2023 will be held in partnership with the Embassy of South Korea “to celebrate the rich culture of South Korea”.
Among the key events featured in World Art Dubai 2023 will be WAD Awards (they will include “Future Artist Award”, “Emerging Artist Award”, and “International Artist in Residency”) and Urban Art DXB. The latter is an exhibition of regional street art curated by Ahmad Al Rashid, a creative director, event designer, and art manager. There will be a dedicated area with live street art, freestyle dances, urban fashion, music, and more. The art fair will also host Future Artists, an art competition for gifted kids: top student artists from several schools will have their artworks displayed. This year’s theme of the competition is “Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion”.
“A long-standing advocate for digital arts”, World Art Dubai 2023 will present a platform dedicated exclusively to the NFTs sector: WAD Next. This art exhibition will be for digital artists and all kinds of NFT enthusiasts. Visitors will be able to have a look at NFTs from local and international artists and buy one. Another thing which definitely can grab the attention of digital art lovers will be Infinite QR Code Installation created by Argentinian artist Carolina Kleine Samson Tonkovic. The installation is made using numerous QR codes; you can scan every one of them and look through a collection of digital artworks from all over the globe.
Apart from giving an opportunity to buy an art piece or two for a reasonable price, the World Art Dubai fair will feature an array of exciting art-themed activities. Visitors of all ages will be offered to take part in different workshops: clay-pot painting, calligraphy, anime drawing, imprinting, photography, and others. Guests will be able to enjoy different live performances such as, for example, Korean tea ceremony, ice carving, and calligraphy.
Those who like not only seeing art, but also discussing it, will be invited to participate in a series of special talks arranged by World Art Dubai. The covered topics will include interior design, AI in art, NFT, the metaverse, and sustainability in art.
