SAF is organising two workshops for children and families, Landscape and Nature Paintings and Cyanotype Prints. The events will take place on Saturday the 22nd of June, 2022. Both events will start at 10:00 am and last until 12:00 pm. The workshops will be held at Collections Building, Arts Square. They are free of charge and open to the public. The languages spoken are English and Arabic. All materials needed will be provided by Sharjah Art Foundation.
One of the workshops for children and families is Landscape and Nature Paintings. Recommended age range is from 11 to 15 years old. Participants There will be a tour of the Aref El Rayess’s exhibition to see the artist’s artworks from his Desert series. Afterwards, the participants will be offered to create their own natural landscapes. Participants will be provided with images of mountains and the desert for inspiration.
More than 200 of essential Arab modernist Aref El Rayess’s works are on display. They include paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographs, revealing the rich and complex artistic practice of this artist. The pieces are exhibited in chronological order reflecting his career of over 50 years. A restless traveler, El Rayess’s oeuvre often reflects the places and times in which he lived and worked.
The second workshop for children and families is Cyanotype Prints. Recommended age range is from 6 to 10 years old. In this workshop, participants will be shown how to make cyanotype prints on paper with the use of plastic sea waste for the creation of marine shapes.
Cyanotype is a photographic printing method that produces prints with a distinctive Prussian-blue colour.
