Opened in 2019, the National Museum of Qatar tells about the culture of the country and about the Qataris. Also, it offers an exhibition of objects that illustrates an important aspect of the entire history of the state. Around the museum, visitors are welcome to stroll in a beautiful landscape park with 114 fountain sculptures.
The museum was built around the old palace of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani, the late son of the founder of modern Qatar. At first, it served as the home of the royal family. Nowadays, it is the national museum.
The architecture of the building of the National Museum of Qatar captivates the residents and guests of the city with its uniqueness. The museum building was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel. The inspiration of the architect was the “desert rose”, which is one of the varieties of the mineral gypsum. The building of the National Museum of Qatar turned out to be incredible, unlike any other building in the world.
