In LOCAL, Beveridge turns her attention to the visual language of the city itself. She draws inspiration from the city’s overlooked details: street signage, architectural fragments, weathered surfaces, and the quiet geometries embedded in the urban landscape. Her works transform these familiar elements into layered compositions that move between representation and abstraction. The exhibition highlights how ordinary urban elements can become carriers of memory and identity, encouraging viewers to reconsider the visual environment that surrounds them daily.

Rather than depicting Dubai through iconic landmarks, the exhibition focuses on the more intimate visual language of the street. Beveridge’s artworks evoke the materiality of the city through restrained palettes and carefully constructed surfaces, capturing fleeting impressions of place while hinting at the complex histories embedded within the built environment. The resulting compositions feel both observational and contemplative. They reflect on how memory, movement, and repetition inform our relationship with the spaces we inhabit.

Beveridge’s practice is informed by close observation of the city’s visual culture, often drawing from the materials and imagery encountered in everyday urban settings. She employs painting and mixed media to examine how environments shape perception and belonging. The artist translates fragments of the street into compositions that reflect both personal experience and the layered character of contemporary urban life.
