Dreams of Spring, an exhibition presented under the patronage of the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Dubai, is now on view at the Al Habtoor Palace Hotel until 25 May 2025. Organised by Andakulova Gallery in collaboration with Legends Art Club, the exhibition showcases the works of Central Asian artists Timur D’Vatz, Timur Akhmedov, and Alfiz Sabirov. Through a blend of painting, sculpture, and mixed media, Dreams of Spring explores mythology, symbolism, and the emotional spectrum of the human experience.
Uzbek-born artist Timur D’Vatz (b. 1968) is famous for his mesmerising paintings that fuse ancient legends and symbolic imagery with a modernist aesthetic and vivid, expressive colours. Drawing on Byzantine and Russian traditions, as well as medieval tapestries and historical narratives, D’Vatz revisits recurring archetypes, particularly the motif of the hunt. In his work, the hunt becomes a powerful metaphor for spiritual evolution, personal quests, and the search for identity.

Timur Ernst Akhmedov (b. 1968), one of Uzbekistan’s leading contemporary artists, is celebrated for his masterful use of colour. His vibrant canvases delve into human emotion, experience, and movement, with inspiration drawn from dreams, mythology, and modern technology. Akhmedov’s paintings unfold into rich, symbolic narratives, often featuring elongated, ethereal female figures within lush, floral dreamscapes. These mystical characters evoke the complexity, grace, and beauty of femininity.

Alfiz Sabirov (b. 1985), a sculptor known for his inventive use of form and texture, creates artworks that blend unexpected materials into compelling visual stories. His sculptures, ranging from gods and heroes to animals central to Tengrism, the ancient Turkic worldview, build a personal mythology grounded in Tatar culture. Sabirov’s work offers a contemporary take on myth, revealing layered relationships between love and hate, chaos and order, life and death, the ancient and the modern.
