What Have You Done, esteemed Syrian artist Kusay Bader’s solo exhibition, presents his evocative abstract works that invite you to examine humanity’s relationship with nature and think about the profound impact of human actions on the health of our planet. On view at Artbooth Gallery in Abu Dhabi, the exhibition will remain open until the 14th of July, 2024.
Bader’s acrylic art pieces executed in a warm earthy colour palette serve as a poignant reminder of the interconnectedness between humanity and the natural world. Through his masterful use of rich texture and symbolism, the artist emphasises the resilience and vulnerability of the Earth’s ecosystems, urging viewers to reconsider their relationship with the environment.
Speaking about the exhibition, Bader says that through his art he aims to express a sense of awe and reverence for nature while drawing attention to the urgent need to protect it. He adds: “[…] I hope to spark meaningful conversations about the importance of environmental protection and the role that each of us plays in preserving the beauty of our planet.”
Bader’s work offers a glimpse into the wonders of nature and the pressing need to safeguard its future. Visitors are encouraged to reflect on their impact on the environment and consider ways to contribute to a more sustainable future for generations to come.
About the artist
Kusay Bader (b. 1972), whose practice includes sculpture, painting, and design, is a member of the Emirates Fine Arts Society. He obtained his BA in Fine Arts with a major in Sculpture from Damascus University (Syria) in 1996. Bader has previously been a member of the General Secretariat of the Sharjah Award for Fine Critical Research and a preparer and editor for the award. In addition, the artist has worked as an art editor at the Department of Culture in the Government of Sharjah and as a journalist for the Maraya supplement of Al Bayan newspaper in Dubai.
