Zidoun-Bossuyt Gallery Dubai presents Nice to Meet You!, a solo exhibition by French artist Louis Granet, open to the public until 29 March 2025. Curated by creative arts specialist Astrid Lesuisse, the show displays Granet’s vibrant oil paintings depicting flowers and everyday objects like sandals. Taking an unconventional approach, the artist has transformed the entire gallery space — its walls painted in bold shades of green, blue, red, and pink — to create a dynamic visual dialogue with his canvases, offering visitors a fully immersive sensory experience.

Granet finds inspiration in the overlooked details of daily life, assembling an eclectic collection of figurative elements captured through his camera, from street signs to cereal box graphics. Inspired by Pop Art and Neo-Pop Art, he meticulously distils the absurdity and abstraction of contemporary visual culture. His deep-rooted connection to comic book illustration informs his creative process, a craft he refined at the School of Comics in Angoulême. Before painting, Granet creates digital renderings, using techniques reminiscent of comic illustration: playing with scale and perspective to exaggerate ordinary objects.

At the heart of the exhibition is Granet’s flower series, where clusters of blooms explode across the canvas. By blending flora from diverse geographical origins into a single composition, he constructs dense, vibrant arrangements that evoke a sense of abundance. These floral clusters appear to mutate and expand beyond the frame, mirroring the chaotic energy of contemporary life, though reinterpreted through nature’s lens.
