Therme Dubai – Islands in the Sky is a landmark wellness and cultural destination designed by renowned American architecture studio Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R), in collaboration with the Therme Group and Dubai Municipality. Situated in Zabeel Park, the project reimagines the traditional thermal bath as a futuristic, immersive environment dedicated to health, recreation, and social connection. Rising 100 meters and covering over 500,000 square feet, the complex is expected to be completed in 2028.

At the heart of the design is the concept of “Islands in the Sky”, a vertical oasis composed of stacked botanical terraces, each containing lush vegetation and mineral pools. These floating islands create an immersive environment. The transparent, sculptural structure blurs the lines between indoors and outdoors, with cascading waterfalls, open-air lounges, and organically shaped thermal spaces woven throughout the building.

The project is divided into three zones. The Play Zone serves as a dynamic family destination, featuring 15 water slides, splash zones, and sunbathing terraces. The Relax Zone offers indoor and outdoor thermal pools, while the Restore Zone features saunas, steam rooms, and globally inspired bathing traditions including Roman, Turkish, Japanese, and Nordic styles. The complex will also house the world’s largest indoor botanical garden, immersive art installations, live performances, and a restaurant.

Therme Dubai’s design includes high-efficiency energy and ventilation systems, 90% water recycling, and smart resource management. Roughly 80% of the complex’s cooling and air systems are powered by clean energy sources, which aligns with the UAE’s sustainability goals and Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan.

The project is endorsed by Dubai’s Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan and is a key part of the city’s Quality of Life Strategy 2033, reinforcing Dubai’s role as a global hub for medical, wellness, and cultural tourism. It embodies a new model for future cities, where leisure, health, ecology, and community converge in elevated harmony.
