The Satellite Gallery in DIFC invites everyone to attend Body Geometry, a mesmerising solo exhibition by acclaimed Iranian designer and artist Banafsheh Hemmati. On display until 31 October 2025, the show features jewellery and sculptural works that merge the intimate scale of the body with the expansiveness of architectural form, exploring the enduring dialogue between geometry, matter, and motion.

The presented works are derived from three foundational forms of Islamic geometry, which Hemmati transforms into a contemporary language connecting East and West, body and space, past and future. She disturbs the rigid symmetry of classical motifs, allowing each geometric form to unfold into a multiplicity of new possibilities.

Jewellery and sculpture are positioned in dialogue: the former engages the body, while the latter activates the surrounding environment. Together they propose that adornment and architecture are part of the same continuum, a choreography of lines and planes that shape human perception. The exhibition also reveals Hemmati’s research process, offering insight into how her pieces evolve from philosophical inquiry into tangible form.

Body Geometry offers visitors an opportunity to experience geometry not as a static pattern but as an active force that shapes awareness and sensation. In this interplay between precision and organicity, Hemmati reimagines the legacy of Islamic art through a contemporary, experimental lens, where the perfection of pattern gives way to the rhythm of transformation.

About the artist

Banafsheh Hemmati obtained a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Industrial Design, as well as a PhD in Philosophy of Art from Azad University (Tehran, Iran), with research focusing on the relationship between aesthetics and geometry. She is the founder of Banafsheh Hemmati Design Studio, through which she develops work that bridges art, design, and philosophy.

Her multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture, jewellery, interior design, lighting, and furniture, and is deeply rooted in a contemporary reinterpretation of Islamic geometric traditions. Rather than treating geometry as a static or decorative system, Hemmati reconfigures its structures to reveal their expressive and kinetic potential. In her work, geometry becomes a living language, one that embodies precision and emotion, structure and movement.
