Until 20 March 2026, kanvas Dubai is hosting Infinite Patterns, a solo exhibition by Selçuk Artut, a Turkish interdisciplinary artist and researcher. Bringing together digital aesthetics, mathematics, and cultural memory, the show explores the enduring language of geometric ornament through the lens of contemporary computational art.

At the core of Infinite Patterns lies an investigation into how patterns, once carved in stone, tile, and architecture, can be translated into algorithmic systems. Inspired by historical geometric traditions across regions such as the Islamic world and the Mediterranean, Artut transforms ornamental motifs into dynamic, generative compositions. These structures are not static decorations but evolving systems shaped by code, repetition, and mathematical logic. By bridging ancient design principles with digital technologies, the exhibition reveals how centuries-old patterns continue to resonate within today’s media landscape.

The displayed works highlight the conceptual shift from ornament to algorithm. Traditional tessellations and geometric forms are reinterpreted through creative coding, producing immersive visual environments where patterns unfold endlessly across digital surfaces. In this context, geometry becomes both aesthetic and conceptual: a framework that links cultural heritage with the computational processes shaping contemporary art. The exhibition invites viewers to reflect on how patterns function as a universal language, one that connects architecture, mathematics, and digital media across time.
