XVA Gallery presents The Truth, a solo exhibition by Saudi artist Hussein Al Mohasen that invites visitors into a vibrant exploration of perception, reality, and the possibilities of visual experience. The show will be open to the public until 5 February 2026.

On display is a new body of work in which Al Mohasen uses colour, poetic reference, and expressive techniques to engage with the notion of “truth” not as a fixed fact but as something felt, interpreted, and shared through imagery. The exhibition encourages viewers to look beyond surface appearances and contemplate how visual language can reveal deeper emotional and collective experiences, from hope and resilience to the complex contradictions of contemporary life.

At the gallery, Al Mohasen’s art pieces create a sensory pathway that oscillates between the real and the imagined, using symbolic mark-making and intense colour fields to expand the dialogue between artist, artwork, and audience.

About the artist

Hussein Al Mohasen (b. 1971, Qatif, Saudi Arabia) has been known in the Gulf’s art world since participating in the Al-Janadriya Festival in 1999 (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia). Over more than two decades, he has developed a distinctive visual practice that blends influences from graffiti, poetry, music, and popular culture, creating works that are as expressive as they are reflective.

Al Mohasen’s art often engages in a dialogue with its audience and transcends regional paradigms to present narratives rooted in both individual and collective experiences. It is characterised by vibrant palettes, emotive imagery, and its capacity to question and expand what we understand as truth, identity, and cultural memory.
