The Meydan One Mall Project

Meydan One Mall, a huge (1.5 mil sq m) retail and entertainment complex, is the project by Dubai based company Meydan Group LLC. Italian contractor Salini Impregilo is responsible for the main building work, while the architectural consultant of the project is AE7. With construction begun in 2017, the opening date of Meydan One Mall was initially scheduled for 2020 but changed later, so the mall is expected to open at the end of 2022.

Situated between the Meydan site and Al Khail Road, the mall will feature over 550 shops located both indoors and outdoors, 190 cafés and restaurants, 21 cinemas, a medical center, a hypermarket covering the area of 131,150 sq m, and a 12,600-space parking lot. Besides, it will include a 711 m high Meydan One Tower, the world’s tallest residential building. It will accommodate almost 900 residential units and the Luxury Plaza Hotel with 350 rooms and a range of amenities and activities to keep both guests and visitors occupied. The building is to be completed in 2023.

The mall’s central gallery comprises an atrium with a retractable roof measuring 160m x 100m called the Central Canyon. Two metro lines will lie underneath the mall, one of which, the Green Line, connects to Dubai International Airport.

Among the main planned attractions of Meydan One Mall are a 12,000 sq m Winter Village, the world’s longest (1 km long) indoor ski slope, and 8.2 km Crystal Lagoon. Visitors will also be able to admire 380 m long dancing water fountains with a choreographed 3D water field and digital colour array.

Those who prefer active leisure will find numerous options: a 24,000 sq m sports facility is included in the project. The BMX course, a skateboarding park, the spaces for football, basketball, indoor cricket, and even mixed martial arts will be available.
