Currently, NYUAD Project Space is home to Entwined, a thought-provoking solo show by contemporary American artist Susan Doe. Her exhibited pieces (paintings, sculptures, and installations) examine ideas of intersectionality rooted in her bicultural upbringing. The show, which delves into themes of identity, culture, and the intersection of traditions, will be open to the public until 17 September 2024.
In her practice, Doe reflects on her Chinese American background, masterfully combining different cultural influences. She merges disparate elements to create something unique and unexpected. Through this process, the artist plays with illusions of materiality, making metal threads appear soft and weaving paper to look like large solid sculptures.
