The Louvre Abu Dhabi is more than just an awe-inspiring museum with a plethora of diverse exhibits. Apart from allowing visitors to explore its impressive permanent collection, which includes significant art pieces and artefacts from all of human history around the world, the museum offers a variety of engaging activities. If you are looking for something new and exciting to do in your spare time, here are some options available now.

From Tuesday to Sunday, one is invited to take a kayaking tour around the Louvre Abu Dhabi and learn about its breathtaking architecture from a unique perspective. Starting at 5:30 PM, this one-hour tour costs 126 AED. Plan to go with your little ones? Note that the minimum age for participants is six years old. By the way, on Saturdays and Sundays, children aged 6-12 years can enjoy junior kayaking tours, but each kid must be accompanied by an adult.

Another way to explore the museum’s architecture is through an electric catamaran cruise. This tour can last either 30 minutes (350 AED) or an hour (600 AED). Participants must be 18+ years old, but those younger can join if accompanied by an adult.

If you are not a fan of outdoor activities, you are welcome to join Drawing at the Museum with a Museum Educator. This series of creative sessions held at the Permanent galleries until 21 August 2024 are open to all. They give one the opportunity to engage with the museum’s collection unconventionally. Under the expert guidance of an artist, participants learn different drawing techniques, from capturing the human figure to depicting landscapes. The sessions take place every Wednesday from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM and cost 81.5 AED. Each session starts with a 30-minute introduction and techniques demonstration, followed by hands-on drawing.

Among the current offerings at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, we cannot overlook Picturing the Cosmos, an immersive exhibition for kids that draws inspiration from the human fascination with space. On display until June 2025, the show takes aspiring adventurers on an educational and entertaining journey through representations of the cosmos in art from different periods and cultures. Notable exhibits include two loans from the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi: lunar meteorite fragments discovered in north-west Africa and a meteorite estimated to be seven billion years old, which are sure to impress visitors of all ages.
