Disjunctions by Lubna Chowdhary

Gallery Isabelle presents Disjunctions, Tanzania-born artist Lubna Chowdhary‘s first solo exhibition in Dubai. The artist, whose medium of choice is clay, is famous for her sculptural objects and site-specific artworks. The show featuring her distinctive ceramic art pieces will be on view until 5 January 2024.

The Front Side Strikes the Most by Saher Nassar

Until 30 December 2023, Zawyeh Gallery is holding The Front Side Strikes the Most, Palestinian artist Saher Nassar‘s solo exhibition. It showcases his newest body of work that explores the soldier, the front visible symbol of power, as a compelling subject. The artist examines their psychology and the tangible actions they impose on others.

Floating World by Monira Al Qadiri

This exhibition held at ICD Brookfield Place features two works by Kuwaiti artist Monira Al Qadiri: Benzene Float and Nawa. Looking playful, the art pieces emphasise how ingrained oil-derived chemicals are within our everyday lives. Through the exhibited artworks, Al Qadiri explores the sustainability of fossil fuels and draws our attention to their invisibility. The show will end on 16 December 2023.

Frozen In Time: Photographs from the Arctic and Antarctica by Diane Tuft

Housed at Leila Heller Gallery, the Frozen In Time exhibition displays American photographer Diane Tuft‘s thought-provoking photographs that demonstrate the beauty of our planet and the ecological crisis it is facing. Through her camera lens, Tuft documents the visual effects of climate change and global warming on the Earth. One can look at her awe-inspiring photos until 31 December 2023.

The Poetry of Water by Maxi Cohen

One more exhibition which Leila Heller Gallery is currently holding and which is worth visiting is The Poetry of Water by New York City-based artist and filmmaker Maxi Cohen. The show presents a collection of water art captured in the Emirates. Among the exhibits are paintings, photographs, multimedia artworks, immersive installations, and others. The Poetry of Water will run through 15 January 2024.

It Lies Beyond by Rashid Rana

Volte Art Projects is hosting It Lies Beyond, a solo exhibition by prominent Pakistani artist Rashid Rana. On display are his immersive art piece It Lies Beyond and sculpture Desperately Seeking Paradise. The artworks combine diverse elements, thus creating a visual narrative which challenges our perceptions. On view until 23 December 2023, the show runs in conjunction with COP28 in Dubai.

A Glimpse into the works of Salmah Almansoori

Until 20 December 2023, one can see Emirati multidisciplinary artist Salmah Almansoori‘s works at the Firetti Contemporary gallery. In her diverse art pieces, which include installations, paintings, sculptures, photographs, ceramics, and videos, the artist explores such themes as place, memory, and identity.

Only Life, Myriad Places by Sudarshan Shetty

Ishara Art Foundation in Dubai is holding Only Life, Myriad Places, a solo show by Indian conceptual artist Sudarshan Shetty. The exhibition celebrates the premiere of his new film One Life Many and features his moving image works, rarely-seen videos, installations, and sculptures. The exhibition will be open to the public until 9 December 2023.

Shattered by Feleksan Onar

Turkish artist Feleksan Onar showcases her sculptures (hand-carved glass birds) at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar. The exhibition explores forced displacement and the innate power that can arise from tragedy. The artworks, which are displayed in the MIA’s Damascus Room, will remain on view until 7 May 2024.

Lasting Impressions: Samia Halaby

Sharjah Art Museum offers everyone to visit its current exhibition Lasting Impressions: Samia Halaby dedicated to this famous Palestinian artist. The show presents more than 180 of her creations (paintings, digital works, and drawings) and takes visitors on a journey through 60 years of her work. The exhibition will run through 7 January 2024.
