Collaborating with Bayt AlMamzar, the Hunna Art Gallery presents Rooms for Error, a solo exhibition by Emirati multimedia artist Nadine Ghandour that continues her investigation into unstable architecture and the psychological toll of rapidly shifting urban landscapes. Curated by Dawn Ross, the exhibition is on view at Bayt AlMamzar and will be open to the public until 18 May 2025.

The show features Ghandour’s newest body of work, including watercolour paintings and charcoal drawings, inspired by her experiences in cities such as Dubai, Sharjah, Cairo and Rotterdam. In these art pieces, the artist explores the idea of the “fast-forward city”: a space where infrastructure lags behind development, where individuals navigate a state of ongoing uncertainty, and where buildings appear to teeter on the brink of collapse. The artworks reflect on the fragility and resilience of the human body within these unstable urban conditions.

Amid the velocity of the external world, Ghandour’s artworks on display evoke a contrasting sense of inner stillness. The exhibition captures suspended moments, quiet pauses in the chaos, marked by reflective resistance to sensory overload. This tension between pace and pause is echoed in the material choices and the careful, sometimes precarious installation of the works themselves, underscoring the delicate balance they inhabit.
About the artist
Nadine Ghandour (b. 1993, UAE) earned an MFA (2023) from the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam (the Netherlands) and a BA (2015) from the University of the Arts London (UK).
In her practice, which encompasses drawing, sculpture, writing, performance, and editorial work, Ghandour explores themes of unstable architecture, shapeshifting surroundings, and the psychological effects of rapidly developing urban environments. She often constructs fictional characters and speculative spaces that mirror the absurdities of modern city living.

Ghandour’s work has been featured in various exhibitions and art events, including Serendipity Arts Festival (Goa, India, 2024); Personal Structures/I Must be Living Twice (ECC, Venice, Italy, 2022); UAE NOW, Art Dubai (2019); Community and Critique (Warehouse 421, Abu Dhabi, 2018); and Tashkeel: The Print Edition, Sikka Art Fair (Dubai, 2017). Among the residencies she has taken part in are the RIB Summer Residency (Performing Arts Forum, France, 2023), the Salama Bint Hamdan Emerging Artist Fellowship (Abu Dhabi, 2018), and others.
In addition to her art practice, Ghandour has worked in libraries and archives, serving as Library and Research Manager at Jameel Library in Dubai and Archive Chef at PrintRoom Rotterdam.
