The newly opened Museum Hub located at Souk Al Marfa, the waterfront souk and marketplace on Deira Islands, gives visitors an opportunity to learn about the UAE’s unique heritage and the UAE pre-millennium lifestyle.
The exhibits are from the private collection of the founder of Museum Hub, Emirati Naser Sulaiman. He has been collecting the shown artifacts and antiques for over 25 years. Some of the items were presented to him, and some he acquired at different auctions around the world.
“I aim to educate and inspire tourists, expats and younger generations to learn about the heritage of our country and the advancements it has made in the past 50 years,” Emirati Naser Sulaiman said.
The Museum Hub is divided into 50 booths or “museums” with their own themes displaying collections of infrequent objects of artistic, cultural, historic and scientific value. Some items are around 200 years old. Pearl museum, furniture museum, jewellery museum, tea and coffee museum as well as bakery, chocolate and confectionery museum are some examples of the presented museums.
The hand-collected items in the Museum Hub are worth over 100 million dirhams. They are available for both observing and purchasing. Sulaiman says that the Hub plans to expand the collection by launching another 50 ‘museums’ by September and 50 more every six months after that.
“We are excited to be bringing residents and visitors the opportunity to observe multiple collections of the country’s most historical advancements under one roof. We look forward to welcoming visitors and providing a unique experience to all,” Says Muath Abdulqader Alrais, General Manager at Souk Al Marfa.
