Fractal by Huma Shoaib

Fractal Huma Shoaib

XVA Gallery invites everyone to explore Fractal, a solo exhibition by Dubai-based artist Huma Shoaib, which offers a thoughtful meditation on chaos, order, and spiritual patterning, reframing what appears random as part of an intricate geometry of existence. The show will remain open to the public until 5 March 2026.

Drawing on the mathematical concept of fractals, infinitely complex patterns that reveal self-similarity at every scale, Shoaib’s work explores the paradox between divine order and human contradiction. Across drawings, paper cuts, and mixed media pieces, she probes how perfect, recurring structures underlie nature and the cosmos, yet become entangled with human impulse, conflict, and free will. The exhibition weaves together themes of spirituality, identity, and paradox. It asks whether chaos is truly chaotic or simply a deeper pattern not yet fully understood.

Shoaib employs intricate geometric motifs alongside symbolic natural forms, like bees, birds, and fish, to express unity and fragmentation. The works resonate as both visual meditations and philosophical enquiries, challenging the viewer to see beyond surface complexity toward the simple, repeating structures that bind life together.

About the artist

Huma Shoaib is a visual artist of Pakistani origin who graduated with a BFA from the National College of Arts in Lahore (Pakistan). Her practice is deeply influenced by Sufi philosophy and sacred geometry, and she often uses process-driven actions, such as shredding and rearranging pages from history books or reducing language to dots (nuqta), to reveal deeper layers of meaning and invite reflection on notions of knowledge, belief, and human complexity.
