Daniel Besnyo, a visual artist from Budapest (Hungary), is a key figure in advancing AV culture in the region and one of the founders of Centrum Budapest, the first professional forum in Hungary dedicated to audiovisual and media arts. Besnyo is going to take part in the Bluewater Art Festival, which will run from 12 to 20 April 2025.
At the festival, the artist will present a large-scale visual experiment that merges technology with imagination. His immersive light installation promises a vibrant experience of movement, colour, and boundless creativity, where light becomes the medium and art knows no limits. As part of Kanvas Dubai’s contribution to the festival, Besnyo will showcase two installations, featured within three unique activation zones highlighting cutting-edge digital art.

For those eager to explore the creative process more deeply, an Art Talk with Daniel Besnyo will be held on Sunday, April 13. The public session will centre on the theme of creativity and the artist’s personal journey, offering insight and inspiration to audiences of all backgrounds.
Besnyo has played a major role in popularising media art through theatrical performances, architectural projections, interactive installations, and thematic events. One of his standout projects was a projection mapping show on the Hungarian Academy of Sciences building. Using a 3D laser scan, the facade was transformed into vivid scientific imagery, from the Kepler Space Telescope to swirling DNA strands and viruses, blurring the line between art and science. “If we have the 3D model of the building, we can make anything we want so we can rotate the building, we can make part of it, we can animate, we can stretch it,” Besnyo explains.

He also conceptualised the INOTA Festival, a four-day event held at a decommissioned thermal power plant in Várpalota. Transforming the industrial site into a cultural space, the festival brought together dozens of artists, including Berlin-based composer Nils Frahm, whose blend of experimental textures and ambient electronica perfectly echoed the venue’s raw, atmospheric setting.
