SAF is organising two workshops for youth, Linoleum Cartoon Prints and The Allure of the World of Colours. The events will take place from Monday the 4th of July, 2022, to Thursday the 7th of July, 2022. Both events will start at 10:00 am and last until 1:00 pm. The workshops will be held at the institute. The fee for each of the workshops is AED 100. The languages spoken are English and Arabic. All materials needed will be provided by Sharjah Art Foundation.

One of the workshops for youth is Linoleum Cartoon Prints. Recommended age range is from 13 to 17 years old. Here, participants will be taught how to draw some shapes of fruits and vegetables, and transform them into their favourite cartoon characters. Afterwards, the art will be engraved on linoleum pieces, inked and printed.

Linoleum printmaking is a type of relief printing. The aim is to carve a drawing into a soft linoleum block, roll a thin layer of ink over it, and press paper on top to transfer the image. The areas where a person has carved away often create wonderful and unique results.

The second workshop for youth is The Allure of the World of Colours. Recommended age range is from 13 to 17 years old. The participants will be taught the basics of plain and mixed colours, how colours are combined in terms of harmony, complementarity and contrast. Then they will find out how to coordinate colours which are used in furniture, fashion and in various designs.

Sharjah Art Foundation aims at making it possible for anyone with special needs to attend these events. For more information, please visit the official website of Sharjah Art Foundation.
