On Sunday, the 4th of September, 2022, James Razko will lead the first 2-hour  workshop of a series of Realistic Drawing workshops at Tashkeel. The workshop is open to people with any level of art practice even to participants with no prior experience.

On this 4-session course, participants will find out the basics of realistic drawing. Through practice and demonstration, this course will present techniques helping capture realism in drawing.

Several drawing methods, from hands-free intuitive drawing to the precise envelope method, will be explained to participants. They will find out about light, form, volume, shading, and facial proportions. After receiving guided advice from the instructor, the workshop will start with quick drawings. The participants will be offered to use photographs as references. Then, everyone will move to precise still-life. Finally, each participant will create a self-portrait drawn from a photograph.

James Razko holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the New York Academy of Art. His work is published in the acclaimed book, The Figure. In 2018, Razko received a grant from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation. Razko twists genres of two-dimensional art-making in a visual, non-horrific exploration of the human experience of war, trauma, and memory. His paintings promote peace while challenging expectations, sociopolitical narratives, biases, belief systems, and tropes.

The four workshops will be held on the 4th and 11th of September from 2pm to 4pm and on the  6th and 13th of September from 5pm to 7pm. The Realistic Drawing workshop will be held at Tashkeel Nad Al Sheba. The fee is AED 1,000.00 (+VAT) per person. Please keep in mind that fees are non-refundable.
