The Warehouse in the Al Quoz district is holding PROTONETWORK, a solo exhibition by acclaimed Bosnian artist Aleksandra Kokotović. Open until 7 January 2026, the show presents a body of work that navigates the foundational elements of visual language and the unseen structures that shape perception and experience.
PROTONETWORK unfolds as a carefully calibrated visual and spatial experience. The exhibition brings together a series of abstract paintings and sculptural works that investigate the foundational architecture of form, energy, and relation: the very elements that precede recognisable imagery. Kokotović’s visual language is rooted in geometric modules, such as circles, squares, lines, and numerical markings, which serve as structural building blocks. Within this framework, shapes generate rhythms and patterns that seem to oscillate between chaos and order.
The exhibition’s aesthetic is at once monumental and subtle. Each work oscillates between presence and potential: a dynamic field where form is both emerging and dissolving. By engaging meditative repetition and controlled variations of line and shape, Kokotović’s pieces act as visual probes into the invisible systems that govern perception, connectivity, and contemporary life. Viewers are invited to reflect on how structure and meaning emerge from the simplest components.
About the artist
Aleksandra Kokotović (born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina) is a multimedia artist who divides her time between Florida (USA), Belgrade (Serbia), and London (UK). An alumna of the Accademia del Lusso (Milan, Italy), she is the President of the Art Council of the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia and a board member of the Association of Applied Artists and Designers of Serbia. She is also a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Kokotović’s practice, spanning painting, sculpture, drawing, installation, and mixed media, investigates the unseen rhythms of perception, matter, and structure. Her work bridges intuitive expression with formal inquiry. Inspired by metaphysical, scientific, and existential themes, she often explores the space where visual abstraction intersects with ideas about energy, connectivity, and the nature of form itself.
Kokotović’s works have been displayed in exhibitions around the world, such as Nothing to See Here (solo) (Accademia del Lusso, Via Monte Napoleone 5, Milan, 2025); Exhibition of New Members, ULUPUDS 2025 (Gallery SULUJ, Belgrade, 2025); PitchWise Festival of Women’s Art and Activism, Me, You, Us, Magnificent Feminists. We can do it – Start it – Change it! (History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, 2024); International Art Festival Lebanon, Art Workshop & Exhibition (UNESCO PALACE, Beirut, Lebanon, 2022); and The 17th International Triennial of Small Graphic Forms (City Art Gallery, Lodz, Poland, 2020), among others.
