Until the 31st of August, 2022, visitors of Foundry are welcome to have a look at Emirati furniture designer Khalid Alsafar’s private collection which features lens-based artworks by talented regional artists. The collection provides a platform for exhibitions and it also supports the development of the artists’ work in progress.
Khalid Alsafar’s collection focuses on the Middle East, North Africa, Iran and Turkey, paying particular attention to emerging artists from the UAE and GCC. The artworks which are presented in the collection analyse problems of identity, faith, and cultural histories, experimenting with new technologies at the same time.
Designer Alshafar has an eye for extraordinary art. He chose the presented photographs himself. Each photograph has a different style and a story behind it.
Foundry is a hybrid progressive art space founded as a response to the challenge of developing cultural environment in the UAE. It is kind of a new cycle of creativity, consisting of an open workspace for collaboration, a podcast studio, a micro library, cafes and galleries.
