Theatre of Digital Art (ToDA) situated in Souk Madinat Jumeirah is thrilled to present the Gaudi x Klimt exhibition, a digital ode to the magnificent Art Nouveau style. Providing a unique 360° experience, it allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the mesmerising art of Antoni Gaudi and Gustav Klimt which comes alive across ToDA’s space covering 1,800 sqm. The dream-like show will be open to the public until the 31st of March, 2024.
Antoni Gaudi and Gustav Klimt were visionaries of the Art Nouveau era. This international style of art and architecture was popular between 1890 and 1910 years and drew from natural forms such as the curves of plants and flowers. In the exhibition, one is welcome to dive into a whirlpool of spirals and vividly decorated motifs that illustrate acclaimed Catalan architect and designer Antoni Gaudi’s eye-catching projects: intricate structures throughout Barcelona, Spain. These are the Parc Güell, the Casa Batlló, the Casa Milà, and the Sagrada Família (the Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family) which are on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Austrian symbolist artist Gustav Klimt, one of the most prominent decorative painters of the 20th century, developed his own eclectic and often fantastic style inspired by various modern trends in European art. He is particularly known for his paintings incorporating gold leaf. The Kiss (1908–09), his most famous picture, belongs to this series. Those visiting the ToDA’s exhibition can admire this work. Among other paintings on view created by Klimt are The Tree of Life, Stoclet Frieze (1909) and Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I (The Woman in Gold) (1907).
