Dubai Design Week is the most important design event in the Emirates and the region, its largest creative festival. It is also one of the most important cultural events of the year, which includes various exhibitions, the UAE’s design fair, installations and competitions, talks and workshops. Dubai Design Week will be held in a partnership with Dubai Design District (d3) from 8 November to 20 November 2022.
Dubai Design Week welcomes families and visitors of all ages to explore the six-day programme which will offer visitors a chance to discover how design innovation can have a positive effect on the future. Dubai is the perfect location to showcase the industries of the region, which have the impact on that region. Design now is about solving socio-economic problems.
Dubai is a hub for design in the Middle East. The great thing about Dubai Design Week is that it erases the line between the regional, local and international designers. Visitors will be able to see designers from different parts of the world. Dubai is all about being open to new ideas.
“Design is an attempt, a methodology, a science, a creativity, a try to make the surroundings better, more friendly and more engaging environment”, says Tadeu Caraviery, Managing Director of the Global Grad Show. Global Design Graduate Show is a non-profit organisation set up to promote the work of graduating art & design students worldwide. It acts in collaboration with Gucci.
Global Grad Show is giving a visible platform to the designers to showcase their innovations and then allowing them an opportunity to connect with the industry to help to take those innovations from ideas to reality.
“Design is art. It is functional art that serves the purpose and involves some kind of emotion that you would normally find on your own”, says the design critic Samer Hamadeh.
One of the most important parts of the Design Week is Downtown Design, a design fair that runs as a commercial event.
Dubai Design Week is free-to-attend. It will take place in a hub at the Dubai Design District as well as at various locations across the city from 8 to 13 November 2022.
