Craft Workshops at Cultural Foundation

The Cultural Foundation offers one an opportunity to take part in several exciting art workshops. Participants’ minimum age must be 14+, so both adults and teens can spend their free time in a creative way. The workshops will be held at Al Marsam Al Hor.

One of the workshops is dedicated to hand bag painting. It will take place on Thursday, November 24, 2022, and last from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The entry fee is 150 AED.

Participants will paint on simple bags made of leather or faux leather with special leather paints and a paintbrush. No particular artistic skills are required: simple geometric or abstract patterns can be used, but of course they are suitable for  creating complex and intricate pieces.

Those who would like to start sewing are welcome to join the Cultural Foundation’s sewing course. The classes will be held on Tuesdays (1, 8, 15, 22, 29 November, 2022). They will start at 10:00 AM and end at 1:00 PM. The other option is 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The entry fee for four lessons is 630 AED.

Participants will get familiar with the basics of sewing, one of the oldest textile arts. First, they will work with needle and threads, fastening flexible materials such as fabrics, leather, and others. Then, a sewing machine will be used to pierce thread through the layers of the cloth and interlock the thread.

Another course offered by the Foundation is Jewelry Design & Making. It will be held on Tuesdays (1, 8, 15, 22, 29 November, 2022) and Wednesdays (2, 9, 16, 23, 30 November, 2022). The classes start at 5:00 PM and end at 8:00 PM. Four lessons cost 630 AED.

In this course which is perfect for aspiring designers, participants will learn how to make a piece of jewelry of high quality both from the concept and perception points of view. They will be introduced to such materials like pearls, crystals, stones, and others, which are important for making the jewelry.
