Jumeirah Creekside hotel welcomes its third Artist in Residence, Marie Theres Madani. Marie will be staying this April for a three-month residency at the hotel. At the end of her stay, an exhibition of the artist’s works will be held. The Austrian artist will investigate the interplay of dynamic flowing backgrounds and planar graphic forms, expressing colliding worlds in her own psyche.
Marie Theres Madani added: “I am excited to be part of the Artist in Residence series and to be bringing my art to new audiences. The space at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel is perfectly aligned with my desire to connect with my audiences and evoke an emotional connection through sharing my experiences of the emirate and its heritage, creating expressive and creative art works.”
Marie Theres Madani explains that she tries to create a dialogue with her art rather than just setting a statement, allowing the viewers to have an independent interpretation. Madani’s art is described as “the abstract and the dynamic”, through which she creates a synergy between different kinds of media.
“Painting is not an image of reality, but rather the becoming of a new reality,” says Marie.
The medium of large and sensualised abstract paintings can also be felt as much as observed. The compositions fuse abstraction with expression, driving the viewer to immerse in a sustained emotional dialogue with themself. In addition, the artist combines elements of photography with painting on canvas.
Marie Theres Madani is an Austrian artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. The artist was born in 1993 and currently lives and works in Vienna.
Jumeirah Creekside Hotel is now showcasing 482 works by 51 artists. Their contemporary collection includes paintings, sculptures, video montages, and mixed media.
At the hotel, the Artist in Residency Programme, started in April 2021, is an ongoing initiative to support international and regional artists in advancing their skills in dedicated spaces, providing an inspirational setting from which to create exceptional artworks and enjoy living in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. At the end of their residency, the artist will be enabled to display their art pieces alongside regionally-inspired artworks.
Andy Cuthbert, General Manager at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, commented: “Taking from art and design as key pillars of the Jumeirah brand, we continue with our motivational Artist in Residence programme at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel. As such, we aim to further deliver truly unforgettable moments for our guests through the medium of art, give them the chance to discover new works from exciting names and support emerging artists from around the world, hence reinforcing our position as an art hub and creative destination. We are delighted to welcome Marie Theres Madani to our hotel and look forward to connecting guests to the emirate and to continuing with our inspiring residency programme series.”
