The 3d and 4th day of Art Dubai Talks 2023 promises to be as eventful as the 1st one. One will have an opportunity to join another four thought-provoking panel discussions with international and Emirati artists, art collectors, and cultural professionals.

On the 3d of March, the following panel discussions will take place:

When Art Meets Sustainability
6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

The panel will be dedicated to interaction between art and sustainability in the framework of an art commission by a brand. Fabien Vallérian, international Arts and Culture Director for Ruinart, the Champagne house exclusively producing champagne since 1729, and Matthieu Gafsou, a photographer of architecture and photography professor residing in Lausanne, Switzerland, will participate in the discussion.

The Art Library: Launch of Hassan Sharif and Manal AlDowayan’s Books
7:00 PM – 8:30 PM

The panel’s participants will give their opinion on the new releases from “The Art Library: Discovering Arab Artists” series. It is an initiative focused on documenting and publishing a series of books on Arab artists who played an essential role in shaping the Arab world’s modern and contemporary art scene.

The latest releases from the series feature Manal AlDowayana, a Saudi Arabian contemporary artist, and Hassan Sharif (1951-2016), an Emirati artist and writer considered the father of conceptual art in the Gulf region. Although the artists belong to different generations, they both have a non-hierarchical approach to making of art and distinctive performative and participatory elements.

The panel will be followed by book signing.

On the 4th of March, one will hold the following panels:

Mohammed Afkhami: iii
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Mohammed Afkhami, Dubai’s resident and a famous art collector whose collection features over 600 art pieces, will talk about his virtual museum, iii (Triple I, that is) which is to be launched soon. This nonprofit museum for all, the first of its kind in the region, will connect art to the larger world of art in an accessible way.

Sustainability Practices Across Luxury and Culture
6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Cécile Lochard, Guerlain’s Chief Sustainability Officer, and Moza Almatrooshi, Bawwaba and Art Dubai Commissions artist, will have a conversation about the ways to approach sustainability from an art and luxury point of view, respectively, with a special attention paid to the importance of bees across both Guerlain’s efforts and Almatrooshi’s art practice. Laura Egerton, a specialist in visual arts, writer, editor, and curator, will moderate the panel.
